Weld neck flange is also called high hub flange or tapered hub flange. It has a long tapered hub and is typically butt welded to a pipe, with its inside diameter matching that of the pipe. The adoption of butt welding technique helps to eliminate stress concentration. This kind of industrial pipe flange shows good sealing performance and is not easy to get deformed. Typical applications are found in environments having extremes of temperature and pressure, such as pipelines or valves whose PN is larger than 2.5MPa and pipelines transporting expensive, flammable, and explosive medium.
